Day 17 - Virginia Beach & Great Bridge UMC

Friday morning came quickly and we met back at Centenary UMC to prepare for a day of fun in Virginia Beach. After packing up the bus, thanking our host families and saying a prayer, we loaded the bus and headed toward the beach. We arrived at the beach, divided up into groups and started on our different adventures. Some went straight to the beach to enjoy the sand and water. Others decided to avoid the high temperatures and blazing sun. One group went to play indoor miniature golf and had a blast, even when they weren't golfing!

Then there were those who thought it would be a good idea to rent a quadricycle for five people. (We do not recommend trying this at home)

The long day at the beach came to an end and we got back on the bus and drove to Great Bridge UMC in Chesapeake for our next concert. Some took the opportunity to take a short nap while others enjoyed yet another episode of Glee.

We arrived at the church a bit early and we were greeted by the Programming Director. He helped find our dressing rooms and then we started getting settled for the evening's performance.

During some free time, Stephen had to check out the organ!

The staff at the church helped to make sure we had everything we needed and more! We rehearsed, had a wonderful dinner and then changed into our concert attire.

We met for our evening devotions and tried to get energized for the concert.

Then it was time to head to the sanctuary and mingle with the congregation. We had a great crowd and the concert went extremely well. It was great to see so many alumni in the audience. David Springstead shared during the alumni message.

The concert ended and we were all placed with our host families. One lucky group had the pleasure of staying with a couple that had an amazing pool with water fountains designed to represent Niagra Falls.
